Development of Hindersön

In order to increase accessibility to Hindersön and create better conditions for both permanent residents and the tourism industry, groundwork was prepared for environmental assessment and cost calculations ahead of a deepening of the fairway both west and north of the island. Land uplift and siltation had made parts of the fairway difficult to navigate, which affected everything from residents and visitors to businesses in fishing and tourism.

As part of the project, a new docking point was also established at the historical area Gruvan, and a boathouse with a gangway was built in collaboration with high school students and local actors. The new docking place makes it easier to visit the old mining area, which previously lacked an accessible dock, and contributes to bringing the site's history to life.
