Leader 2014-2022
During the program period 2014-2022 including the extension years until 2025, Spira Mare 2020 worked with rural development through the leader method.
Spira Mare 2020
Spira Mare 2020 worked to grant development projects within the geographical area of Älvsbyn, Boden, Piteå, Luleå, Kalix, and the southern part of Haparanda (south of E4). The association's purpose was to promote a positive and sustainable development of the countryside in accordance with the local development strategy for the period 2014–2020, including the extension years until 2025.
The activities were conducted according to the leader method, a method where the non-profit sector (e.g., associations and village development groups), private sector (e.g., businesses and business networks), and public sector (e.g., municipalities and authorities) collaborate to create development based on local needs and initiatives.
The work was based on the vision ”Together we refine everyday life into new opportunities” and the strategy focused on three areas of intervention that contributed to local development, collaboration, and long-term sustainability.
Entrepreneurship in rural areas
To strengthen businesses, promote innovation, and contribute to skills development.
Attractive countryside
To develop services, infrastructure, cultural and recreational environments.
Inclusive community development
To create participation and engagement in local development work.
