Development plan for the Trail System in Norrbotten's coastal area (UTLINK)

To strengthen hiking tourism and increase accessibility to nature and cultural environments in Norrbotten's coastal area, a joint development plan was created for a cohesive trail system. The project included several coastal municipalities and was based on broad cooperation between associations, businesses, municipalities, and other stakeholders.

Through mapping of both existing and potential trails as well as identification of nodes, important places for services and information, and connection points, a digital map and concrete criteria for future trail development were created. Two larger dialogue forums and several local meetings were held to gather knowledge, anchor ideas, and create consensus.

A film was produced to inspire and guide future trail developers. The project has not only resulted in a development plan but also in new networks and collaborations that provide a strong foundation for future investments in outdoor life and tourism in the region.
