Båtskärsnäs has a strong connection to the sea, where life on the water has long been a natural part of both everyday life and community. In the middle of the village lies Skräddarviken's pier, a place that was previously an obvious gathering point but has deteriorated and become inaccessible for many years. This has limited opportunities for outdoor life, meetings, and development related to the archipelago, despite the area containing great values for both residents, community life, and visitors.
Through broad local engagement, there is now a desire to take advantage of the place's significance and create new opportunities for the village to grow. A renovated pier can strengthen both community and attractiveness, while also opening up for more experiences and initiatives related to the sea and the archipelago.
To make this possible, the old wooden structure will be demolished and replaced with a new, sustainable wooden platform with railings. The stone pier will be leveled and provided with an accessible walkway. Lighting will be installed for increased safety, and the area will be complemented with a grill area and seating. At the same time, associations, businesses, and residents will gather in workshops to develop the place as a vibrant meeting point. When the work is completed, a safe and inviting pier will be inaugurated, which will once again become a central part of life in Båtskärsnäs.
