kringeli – an island for everyone

To once again bring life to a historic meeting place in the Kalix archipelago, the island Kringeli will be developed into an accessible and vibrant place for both locals and visitors. The island has long been a natural gathering point for community and activities, but has remained unused for several years due to lack of accessibility and need for renovation. At the same time, interest in nature experiences and tourism in the area is growing, creating new opportunities to harness the potential of the place.

The project builds on the strong local engagement and a desire to open up the archipelago for more. Through collaboration between associations, businesses, and public actors, Kringeli will become a place where cultural history, outdoor life, and new experiences meet. An important part is to make the island accessible also for people with different needs, so that more can take part in the environment and community.

Within the project, the island will be renovated and developed with improved docking, restored buildings, and new features such as barbecue areas, sauna, and solutions for electricity and water. At the same time, new experiences will be developed in collaboration with the tourism industry, and forms for long-term cooperation will be established so that the place can continue to develop and be used over time.
