Child-friendly meeting place Boden

About the project

Boden is in the midst of a major societal transformation. With new industrial investments and a significant population growth, the need to create social contexts where people can meet is increasing. At the same time, there is also a growing need to create social contexts where people can meet, regardless of background or reason for living in Boden. For parents on parental leave or those with small children, it is particularly important that there are safe places to go. At the same time, it is precisely parents in this life phase who often lack networks and natural pathways into society.

Save the Children wants to create a meeting place where adults can meet, get to know each other, and share experiences – but for this to be possible, the place must also be adapted for small children. The child-friendly environment becomes a prerequisite for adults to be able to meet. Here, children can play, sing, and create, while parents have the opportunity for conversation, community, and support.

The operation is open one day a week and is complemented by occasional pop-up meetings in other parts of the municipality. The activities are shaped in dialogue with the participants and carried out in collaboration with associations, the municipality, and other actors.
