The Five Villages – a central part of Råneälvdal
About the project
To safeguard the villages' traditions, culture, and history as well as create conditions for entrepreneurship, the project focused on developing The Five Villages.
A joint development plan was created, as well as a local economic analysis that provided in-depth knowledge about the villages' resources. Attractive locations were highlighted through the creation of signs, a map, and a website.
The project also included the Älvdalsloppis, which attracted thousands of visitors, and the construction of a water wheel at Kvarnbäcken in Böle to demonstrate how hydropower was used historically. A result of the project was that new contact points were created between businesses, municipalities, and individuals, leading to broader networking between the villages.
