Feasibility study for the development of Malmens väg

About the project

Malmens väg stretches 200 kilometers through Norrbotten and carries both history and great opportunities for the future. The route connects villages, snowmobile trails, rest cabins, and attractions from Gällivare to the coast at Strömsund, but maintenance has suffered and the interest in developing the route has grown.

Therefore, a feasibility study was conducted in Råne älvdal to map the condition of the route, identify development potential, and create a plan for future operation and financing. The project led to a complete implementation application and proposals for digital solutions that can increase accessibility and highlight the historical significance of the route.

The ambition is for Malmens väg to become a year-round destination for more target groups, from snowmobilers to cyclists, tourists, and locals.
