Game Jams – leisure activities
About the project
To create meaningful activities for young people in rural areas, a new concept with creative meeting places in the form of Game Jams was tested. During four meetings in Kalix, Luleå, Älvsbyn, and Boden, young people between 13 and 25 years old got to try creating games together with music, images, stories, and code.
The participants were divided into groups and guided by professional game developers. New contacts, friendships, collaborations were created, and many participants continued to keep in touch even after the project. In collaboration with folk high schools, cultural schools, and local actors, the project was carried out with great local engagement and concluded with a large Game Jam at Boden Business Park where all participants gathered.
