LIFE and movement at Norrvallen
About the project
To strengthen young people's opportunity for an active and meaningful leisure time in the northern villages of Piteå municipality, the initiative Life and movement at Norrvallen is being implemented. Today, many children and young people are forced to travel long distances to be able to train football for large parts of the year. Nearly 40 percent of young people in rural areas report that distance and the need for transportation are obstacles to leisure activities. At the same time, investments in artificial turf fields have primarily been made in central parts of the municipality, which has created unequal conditions between urban and rural areas.
Norrfjärdens IF, together with Rosvik IK and Sjulsmarks SK within FC Norrsken, gathers around 450 active players. By developing Norrvallen, the place is strengthened as a safe and vibrant meeting point for children, young people, and families throughout the area.
Here, the association is carrying out a coordinated initiative with several financiers. With support from Leader Spira Mare, an accessibility-adapted grandstand is being built in connection with the new field. At the same time, among others, the General Inheritance Fund is financing the establishment of the artificial turf field with lighting. Together, a complete and unifying arena is created that can be used from early spring to late autumn and give Norrvallen new life for more months of the year.
