To strengthen local food production and take the next step from cultivation to processing, PastaBoden in Vittjärv, Boden is being developed. The foundation is an established vegetable farm with production during the summer months. By broadening the business with a new branch in pasta manufacturing, better conditions for year-round operations, increased profitability, and also strengthened preparedness in the region are created. .

The new initiative is based on processing the farm's own raw materials such as beetroot, spinach, and pumpkin. Through collaboration with local farmers, a local value chain will be developed where more producers can find a market for their raw materials. The company thus transitions from being solely a primary producer to also creating finished food products.

With support from Leader Spira Mare, investments are being made in a pasta machine and associated dryer, as well as in the startup of production. The initiative contributes to more locally produced food, an extended season on the farm, and a more resilient food system in Norrbotten.
