Seskarö Trails path development

To make nature on Seskarö more accessible and attract more to outdoor activities in Haparanda archipelago, Seskarö Trails took the initiative to create northern Sweden's most fun outdoor area. With its location near the E4 and Seskarö Bridge, the island is easy to reach, but previously local knowledge was required to find one's way into nature, and that was something they wanted to change.

The project resulted in 60 kilometers of summer trails and 42 kilometers of winter trails, complemented by rest areas with fire pits, clear signage, trail maps, and a digital mapping tool in several languages. The initiative also included the establishment of a strong brand, a website, and profiles on social media. Through the outdoor event Seskarö Trailrun, which quickly became a public favorite, the location has been promoted both locally and regionally.

Today, Seskarö Trails offers experiences year-round. The trails are adapted for hiking, cycling, skiing, and paddling and cater to everyone, from families with children to experienced outdoor enthusiasts. Nature is just a step away, and the area is constantly being developed in collaboration with local associations and businesses.
