Sörbyarna – continued growth in Luleå's southern municipality

When record-breaking industrial investments took off in Norrbotten, Luleå Business Region saw the need to prepare the southern part of the municipality for the future. With strong companies and growing interest in new establishments, Sörbyarna became a strategically important part of the municipality's growth. To create better collaboration and new business opportunities, entrepreneurs, village associations, and advisors gathered in a joint development effort.

The project has led to new networks, mentoring programs, and concrete collaborations between large and small companies. Three new companies were started during the project period, and in Alvik, Norrbotten's largest solar park was established. The work to build a Growth Council in the area began with the ambition to provide the business community with a long-term platform for dialogue and development. The project has also contributed to raising the status of rural areas and creating a stronger connection between city and countryside in Luleå.
