The development of the tourism industry in Kalix and surrounding areas

To highlight Kalix and Haparanda as winter destinations, the business network Coastal Lapland focused on gathering and strengthening the local tourism industry. The goal was to create a collaboration cluster and develop products related to winter tourism with the icebreaker in Axelsvik as the travel reason.

During the project period, joint travel packages were developed, companies joined the booking platform Bokun, and a number of international activities were carried out. Coastal Lapland participated in fairs such as ITB Berlin and MATKA Helsinki, arranged familiarization trips, and invited tour operators and press from Finland. The result was increased attention, new collaborations, and a stronger structure for coordinated sales.
