Visit Alterdalen

Alterdalen in Piteå municipality is a picturesque place that has long been overlooked. With the project Visit Alterdalen, village associations and entrepreneurs wanted to highlight the area and show what the region has to offer. Through two large event weekends in 2017 and 2018, the Alterälvs weekends, weekends filled with activities, open farms, culture, history, and nature experiences were created.

The project was based on collaboration between associations, businesses, and individuals in nine villages along the Alter River. With the help of joint marketing, signage, advertisements, maps, and information sheets, thousands of visitors were attracted. The project resulted in new networks, increased community, and significant media attention. Alterdalen was named the Village of the Year in Piteå 2018, and the event was nominated for the municipality's business gala.
