Bakehouse as a cultural and recreational meeting place

To preserve old food craft traditions and create a vibrant meeting place for all ages, a new bakehouse was built in the middle of Bälinge village. The need had existed for a long time, and when the opportunity arose to seek support, the Bälinge interest association took the initiative to realize the idea.

The bakehouse has become a place where generations meet over the wood oven. Here, young people learn to bake flatbread, klodda, and pizza, while older individuals have the opportunity to pass on their knowledge. The facility is also used by newcomers to develop their skills in traditional food crafts. Through training, joint baking days, and parties, the bakehouse has become an obvious gathering point for both villagers and visitors.

The entire construction, except for certain technical aspects, was carried out with volunteer efforts. The result is a bakehouse that welcomes everyone. Interest has grown rapidly, and more people are reaching out to book times, participate in activities, or just drop by. The project has created a sustainable meeting place that strengthens community and keeps an important culture alive.
